The voice of the entire
Upstream sector in Romania

ROPEPCA Presentation

ROPEPCA was founded in November 2012, aiming to strengthen the image of the onshore upstream sector in Romania, and to enhance its relationship and communication with the state, government, regional and local authorities, national agencies, and general public.

The association gathers active players from the Romanian exploration and production industry who share the same goals: respect for the environment, an ethical working relationship, respecting the highest standards and using the latest technology.

Our mission is to provide a common voice for the onshore upstream sector in Romania. To achieve this goal, we try to raise overall awareness on the industry and its importance for the national economy and employment. To reach this purpose ROPEPCA launched the microsite www.desprepetrol.ro, website that contains relevant information specific to the Romanian onshore sector.

We are also promoting open discussions on health, safety and environmental, educational, fiscal and technical issues.

Romanian Petroleum Exploration and Production Companies Association consists of 13 petroleum concession agreements holders. These agreements were signed by the member Companies and the Romanian state, under the active Petroleum Law.

Currently ROPEPCA’s members hold a vast majority of the onshore concession blocks in Romania, which in 2014-2018 represented a cumulative investment of more than 5 billion EUR, a tax contribution of 11 billion EUR to the state budget and created and maintained 15,000 jobs.

For each job created in the industry, another 4.3 indirect job are created. (Source: Vasile Iuga, Country Manager PwC, at Bucharest Forum Energy 2013)

Since 2016 ROPEPCA Association is part of the specialized groups registered in the Unique Register of Interests Transparency (RUTI) andEU Transparency Register.
